Remembering a Kind Stranger and Paying It Forward

Matthew Jackson paid a woman's $200 grocery bill and told her to 'pay it forward', his life ended on what we Australians call Remembrance Day (November 11th).
"Remembrance Day (sometimes known as Poppy Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty."
And in a way Matthew also fell in the line of duty "paying it forward" when he was killed in a car crash while giving two passengers a lift, according to various news reports I read since.
"Jackson was killed, while the other two passengers were injured.
They were both later released from the hospital.
In a postscript, Jackson’s sister and brother-in-law drove from their home outside Phoenix to Carlsbad for Matthew Jackson’s funeral
They and their four children stopped to eat in Yuma, Arizona.
When they went to pay for the meal, a stranger had already covered their tab."
Gym Trainer Performs Good Deed And Dies Less Than 24 Hours Later
"One week later, Knighten called Jackson's workplace to thank him for paying her grocery bill.
She was shocked to learn that Jackson had died.
He was killed in a car crash less than 24 hours after buying her groceries.
After sharing the story on Facebook, Knighten received an outpouring of responses and she started a community page called Matthew's Legacy. The purpose of the page was to urge others to tell their stories of helping others and to create a movement. A movement she vowed, to a stranger in the grocery line, that she would help make."
A stranger's compassion: Spreading the spirit of giving
"Shocked and heartbroken by the news, Knighten took to Facebook to write a deep-felt remembrance of her brief encounter with Jackson."
Matthews Legacy
Lest we forget ... as we say on Remembrance Day.
"A California man's good deed is inspiring thousands after a woman he had helped tracked him down only to discover that he had died in a car accident, according to ABC News. Matthew Jackson, 28, made Jamie-Lynne Knighten's day on Nov. 10 by covering her and her young son's grocery bill when she realized that she had left her debit card at home, taking a "pay it forward" approach."
I wrote about Blake Beatie, the author of Bullseye!,who was also the instigator of "Pay It Forward" Day, in this post a while back -
