"Suffering is the Compost in the Garden of the Soul"

I've just finished reading Chris Mackey's book Synchronicity and have to say it is one of the best modern books about the subject to hit the bookshelves in a long while.
I particularly liked this passage in his book on page 236 where Chris recounts a very good quote from a patient -
"Suffering is the compost in the garden of the soul", which is a very thoughtful take on that old common bumper sticker quote, "SHIT HAPPENS!"
Life is never going to be one smooth sailing trip no matter how well things appear to be motoring along in our lives, s#it will surely happen to us if we live long enough.
That's just life, but it's whether we let the s#it bury us, or whether we use the suffering as the compost in the garden of our soul to make our souls stronger to go on in this life and try to make something bloom from that s#it flung our way.

Life can certainly be a Titanic struggle and it really is a case of synch, or swim, sometimes;-)
Oh ... and not all bird signs are good signs, either:-)
UPDATE: 23rd February, 2016
Funny that after posting this post with the truck about to go under a bridge with the toilets on the back and the bridge being too low, I see this news story that happened a few days later about a bus that tried to go under a bridge that was too low.

Bus crashes into Montague St overpass

South Melbourne bus crash: VicRoads to review safety warnings after passengers' lucky escape
Well, you do know what they say?-)
